Summer Goals

While Steve is on a blogging hiatus….doing what he does best….spreading SRE cheer to clients….I am stepping in as the SRE guest blogger to kick off summer!

A typical SRE launch of summer involves goal setting. For the start of summer I seemed to have the goal of BALANCE on my brain. You may wonder, what does that mean? Aren’t work goals supposed to be about just that….WORK? Where does BALANCE come into play?

When I started my career, I had one vision in mind. I HAD to LOVE my work. I HAD to LOVE my team. I HAD to feel like I was a PART of something. I HAD to have BALANCE between my work & my personal life. At SRE, we work REALLY hard for our clients throughout the year. BALANCE doesn’t always exist. Summer, to me, is the time to RE-CLAIM my goal of BALANCE.

In order to be the best SHAWNNA that I can be, I need BALANCE. I need to know that I am being the BEST that I can be and living JOYFULLY at work, at home, in my relationships and for myself. I am very fortunate that I get to align myself with others at SRE that also strive for BALANCE. We know the IMPORTANCE of being the very best at our job AND we also know that we couldn’t do what we do for our clients if we didn’t have BALANCE in the other areas of our life.

Summer is SRE’s time to RE-FLECT, RE-JUICE, RE-INVENT and RE-ESTABLISH ourselves in both our work AND in our personal life.

Summer is the time to RE-CLAIM BALANCE!

To quote the author Douglas Pagel,“Sometimes it’s important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it’s essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.”

May we all meet our goals this summer, whatever color they may be!
