Many of us go through our daily life living by our routines and habits and moving from one task to another. Others often make a point of pausing, taking time to reflect, and really letting a moment settle within oneself. This summer while on a family vacation down south, we had the opportunity to take a day trip to the astounding city of Savannah, Georgia. Savannah is home to a highly acclaimed art school; Savannah College of Art Design or SCAD. With SCAD and its influence, the city is full of artists and galleries. While walking through the city, my eye caught a glimpse of a picture hanging in a window. The picture took my breath away. Mesmerized, I found myself walking across the street and into the art gallery. I was truly moved by the shear essence of the pieces of work on display before me. The gallery was filled with artwork by only one artist and included watercolor paintings, pillows, pottery, and more. The artist’s work moved me, touched me, brought me to a deep place, and filled me with an incredible sense of inspiration. Further, that very moment in time has been the catalyst that has prompted me to reflect on what else has inspired me this year. While I can list people and things that have inspired me, inspirationfor me comes in many shapes, forms, people, and actions. As a society living in the 21st century, we are blessed to have the means to be surrounded by many things to inspire. Take a moment to look around and get swept up in a moment that can impact you more than you will ever realize. Working with FIRST Robotic students, we continue to have so many opportunities that surround us with those that make us think, reflect, challenge, and inspire.
